How to Submit an Article

Before you go any further, read this: Do not send your article anywhere and everywhere else! It may seem like a good idea to maximize your chances of being published by sending your article to every Starcraft site you can think of, but almost every website, including us, wants our own, exclusive content. You may not submit an article that has been made available anywhere else, online or in print. If we choose to publish one of your articles you will have to agree that the article will become property of Starcraft Method, and therefore you cannot go and make it available anywhere else. You will be given full accreditation as the writer, of course.

If we decide to publish an article you submit, we will E-Mail you with additional information, and it will soon appear on the front page of Starcraft Method! If rejected, we will write you a personal rejection letter within a week. Most of our readers come here to grow as players. The goal of anything you should write should be to offer players information as to how to improve their gameplay. The field of areas to write about is very broad. There are many factors, angles and details to be considered and incorporated into the playing of Starcraft 2. Be creative, be esoteric if you must, as long as it's truly relevant. If you're being thoughtful, comprehensive and ultimately insightful, you're covering the right stuff.

Style

While most are here to learn about the game, it won't do to supply them with a tedious and boring article. Having the information you want to impart isn't by itself enough, so give some attention to this aspect and make your article audience-friendly. Don't be afraid to put some personality in your writing. Humor is appreciated. Just be conscientious of who your readers are and make some effort to keep them from falling asleep in their chairs. It doesn't have to be funny. Any article that flows well should be just fine, but pulling that off can be tricky.

Spelling and Grammar

Need to be present in your writing! We don't mind doing a little bit of clean-up for you, but that's it. Be sure to capitalize proper names, including buildings, units, abilities, map names and player names. Abbreviations can be used, just be considerate when choosing to use them - if you're not sure, play it safe.

What to Avoid

It does not cut it to write an article based off of a small measure of success against random or mediocre players. Starcraft Method readers aspire to perform as optimally as they can, and that means being able to defeat players of a higher caliber, which is who you should always test against, thoroughly. If you want to be published, don't guess - prove to us that what you're talking about is the real deal!

Because the game is new, we can lend you our ears due to the heavy amount of evolution the metagame is going to see, particularly within the first year of the game, but there will never be any ultimate end-all strategy or even race choice for Starcraft 2, so avoid claims of that sort - they will not be published.

The extremely obvious and overdone is just that! Say something new, or something that hasn’t been properly discussed.

Typically, it is high-level players who write premium content for us as they know the ins and outs of the game and they are the minds players most want to learn from. However, it is certainly not impossible for writers who aren't top level gamers to write premium content for us. What we pay depends on how new you are to us, and just how much people love it every time you write an article.
